Membership is open to all persons having previously served, or currently serving,  in the Republic of Korea.  Any person qualified for membership may send a completed KDVA Membership form, Form DD-214, and the $20.00 member fee to Member Services at the address listed on the form.  You may choose Annual membership (renewable every 12 months on the membership anniversary date), a Three-year membership ($50.00) or a Life membership.  See member fee schedule below.  Be sure to include a copy of your Form DD-214. igct

Outdated application forms will only be accepted when accompanied by the current membership dues and a copy of Form DD-214.  Older forms will be rejected and returned with fee payment when accompanied by former dues amounts of $10.00 or $15.00.  A current application form will be included in the return package. apartment for rent in kiev www.kievinn.com

There are four categories of membership:  Active, Associate, Affiliate, and Honorary

 

The membership criteria are: 

1.  Active membership:  All persons who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America or a country serving under the UN Command in Korea allied with the U.S. are eligible for Active Membership.  Korea categories are: (a)  Occupation Forces Veteran, (b) Korean War Veteran, (c) Defense Veteran.  The three are classified as KV 

(Korea Veteran).  Former and current U.S. Armed Forces members are also eligible for Regular Active Membership.

(a)  Defense Veteran: Any former member of the armed services deployed to the Republic of Korea after 27 July 1954 during the post-armistice period as a member of a defense unit or assigned temporary duty for a period of 30 consecutive days or 60 non consecutive days. 

(b)  Korean War Veteran:  Any former member of the armed services that served during the Korean War between 25 June 1950 and 27 July 1954. 

(c)  Occupation Forces Veteran:  Any member who served in Korea after World War II but prior to the Korean War begin date of 25 June 1950.

(d)  POW Veteran:  Korea veterans that have been classified as Prisoners of War in Korea between 25 June 1950 and the present. 

(e)  Medal of Honor Member:  Former or current U.S. Armed Forces members that have been the recipient of the U.S. Medal of Honor for any era.

(f)  Active Service Member:  Any member currently serving in the armed services in the Republic of Korea. 

(g)  Military Service Member:  Any member with previous military service having served in a region other than the Korean Peninsula.

2.  Life Membership:  Any active or associate member in good standing is eligible for life membership (see rate schedule below).

3.  Associate Membership:  Any spouse or child (at least 18 years of age) of an active member, or person providing direct support to the KDVA.

(a)  Gold Star Member:  Parent, spouse, child or sibling of a Korea service veteran killed as a result of enemy hostilities on the Korean Peninsula after 25 July 1950.

4.  Affiliate membership:  Any member in good standing of a veterans organization (i.e., DMZ Vets Association), unit organization (i.e., Division, Wing or Ship, or separate unit), military association or order (i.e., Combat Infantryman’s Association) that is affiliated with the KDVA in support of the mission.

5. Honorary Membership:  Any person who by act or deed has displayed a special interest and devotion to the KDVA mission, and who has worked diligently in support of the mission, and has been nominated and approved by the Leadership Team.

 Note: "Active and Affiliate membership in the KDVA shall never be denied because of race, color, creed, sex, national ethnic origin, sexual orientation or physical disability, so long as the individual meets the military service requirements.

Associate and Honorary membership in the KDVA shall never be denied because of race, color, creed, sex, national ethnic origin, sexual orientation or physical disability, so long as the individual is a person of good character and standing". 

Membership ineligibility:  Any person who has been separated/discharged from service to the armed forces of the United States, or a country allied with the U.S. and serving under the UN Command in Korea, under conditions other than honorable or any civilian known to have criminal or unsavory background shall be deemed ineligible for membership.

Normal new member processing time including delivery of membership card and any ordered memorabilia generally takes between four(4) to six(6) weeks.  Memorabilia orders generally take about four(4) weeks to deliver.
